GALIMZHAN YESSENOV LEFT THE POST OF HEAD OF ALMATY TRIATHLON FEDERATION

Businessman Galimzhan Yessenov has left the post of head of the Almaty Triathlon Federation (ATF). This happened due to the expiration of his term of office.

At the meeting of the general meeting of the ATF founders, it was decided to appoint Valikhan Ten, a well-known athlete, a popular blogger, an adept of a healthy lifestyle, as the new head of the Federation.

Galimzhan Yessenov remains a co-founder and member of the Board of Trustees of the Almaty Triathlon Federation. He commented on his resignation from the post of head of the Federation:

- I was appointed as a head of the ATF in 2017 for a period of 3 years with subsequent re-election. Due to the end of his term of office, he proposed to transfer the position to an active supporter of a healthy lifestyle, an athlete and multiple winner of various Ironman series competitions - Valikhan Ten. He doesn’t afraid of changes, he is open to everything new, constantly generates ideas and inspires others.

Galimzhan Yessenov headed ATF from 2017 to 2022. During this time, Kazakhstani triathletes have won fifty gold medals, including four medals at international competitions: in 2019 - gold at the Asian Championship (Korea), gold at the Asian Sprint Cup and gold at the Central Asian Championship (Kyrgyzstan), and this year - gold at the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup (Poland). Athletes such as Master of Sports Anuar Turubayev and Candidates for Master of Sports Dariya Bychkova, Milena Saprina and Danil Porodnov regularly achieved great success at republican competitions. In total, the Almaty Triathlon team during this period won 131 medals at the republican starts, 46 of which were gold. In 2018 and 2019, together with the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation, ATF organized and held the Asian Cups (ASTC Almaty Triathlon Asian Cup), in which more than 500 people took part in total. Every year, 10 republican competitions are held in Kazakhstan, including 2-3 events organized by ATF. To date, 230 professionals and 302 AGE-Group triathletes train in Almaty.

The new head of ATF - Valikhan Ten, told about the ATF's immediate plans:

- We plan to actively work to identify talented athletes among teenagers and develop professional triathlon. We will increase the number of starts for AGE-Group triathletes and hold events that can attract the population to triathlon classes. There are also plans to expand cooperation on the development of mass sports with the region and the city of Konayev.
